Summer 2025 Bar Exam Writers — Congrats, You Did It!!

Now that the results for the Summer 2025 edition of the Ontario bar exam are out we can finally say it: Congratulations to all those who passed!!!

Contrary to common belief, the Ontario bar exam is NO JOKE, especially when you have to write it right after law school. A LOT of prep work goes into it, and so those of you who wrote it deserve a major pat on the back. You’ve earned a overdue break from thinking about all things law for at least the next month or so.

And if you didn’t pass this time around, DO NOT WORRY. You still get two more chances. PLUS, you’ll know exactly what you’re walking into the next time you write it. That’ll give you a major advantage.

For those of you who didn’t pass this time around and are now looking for some more practical advice, we encourage you to poke around our blog. It’s littered with all kinds of advice, much of which we hope you’ll find helpful. To save you some time, however, here are some of our key pieces of advice:

  1. Take practices tests. Seriously, take them — there’s no better way to gauge how prepared you are.

  2. Start studying early. Don’t wait until the last minute to start studying. There’s wayyyyy too many materials to get through. Start early and study often so that you can progress through the exam materials at a manageable rate and actually RETAIN what you’re reading. Then, come test day, you’ll know exactly where to flip when presented with a question on a particular topic.

  3. Create a study calendar. This goes hand-and-hand with our second piece of advice. If you create a study calendar and, importantly, hold yourself accountable to that study calendar, you’ll know exactly when you should start studying and how much studying you need to do each night. Don’t just study, study with a purpose.

  4. Learn how to use the detailed table of contents. We’ve talked about this at length in one of our older blog posts. In short, if you know how to navigate the detailed table of contents, you’ll be able to flip through the materials with ease on test day.

  5. Stay calm. Look, you’re going to be nervous come test day. But remember, EVERYONE ELSE AROUND YOU IS ALSO GOING TO BE NERVOUS. We’re firm believers that, in general, you get what you put in when it comes to life. So, do the prep work, take lots of practice tests, and then do your best to just BREATH come test day. You’ve put in the work, now go out there are ace it so you never have to think about the bar exam again!
